Album: Jack Johnson – Sleep Through The Static

Jack JohnsonSleep Through the Static, singer-songwriter Jack Johnson’s fifth studio album, was released on February 5, 2008. The effort was announced on Johnson’s personal website as renovation began for the release of this new album. It was recorded at L.A.’s Solar Powered Plastic Plant, which makes it Johnson’s first album not made in Hawaii.

The album was played live for the first time at the BBC in December for a select number of fans. It has since been reviewed by music critics around the world to generally good reception, despite some political and dark aspects to it.

It also contains very down to earth songs like “Angel”. Despite a generally pleasing reception, some critics have commented that the disc is not quite the Jack Johnson explosion expected, instead an array of mature songs in his typical style.

The first single is “If I Had Eyes” followed by “Sleep Through the Static“, which was released via Johnson’s Myspace page on December 17th 2007. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 374,619 copies in its first week.
