My guess is that it has been harder for him to make his album because he is solo and that there may have been some creative differences. According to a Jan 30th interview he and Day 26 had with Miss Jones on Hot 97, he said he was working with a producer named Seven to finish up his album. He also sung one of his songs "Dr. Love" (That song may well be a big hit for Donnie) I really don’t think Donnie has been dropped from the label at all. Diddy is infamous for singing artist, and then casting them off to the side if he doesn't believe they have "hit" potential. Personally, I was upset when Donnie received the solo deal.
