Kevin Cossom feat. Diddy and Fabolous – Baby I Like It

Baby I Like It” is the debut single from JIVE’s R&B/pop Singer-songwriter Kevin Cossom‘s upcoming debut studio album. The track features production from Danja, and American rappers Diddy & Fabolous.

He is gearing up for the release of his yet untitled debut album which he describes as a direct reflection of who he is-some city suburbs and part spiritual part, “My music is really eclectic Not ryggsäck or play conga eclectic but I am inspired by something that drives music to another level, I would definitely describe my sound as unpredictable yet safe enough to understand its feeling good and it is fresh”

In an era of reality stars and hardcore hip-hoppers, it is good to see that there are certain artists who are still doing this for the love of music, whether it is his moving voice, or his soulful songwriting Kevin’s love and passion for the game is what makes his fans want more. Cossom’s debut studio album is set to be released in early 2011 from JIVE records.

Ciara feat. Missy Elliott – “Work” Music Video

Work” is the fourth single produced by Danja from R&B singer Ciara. The song features Missy Elliott. It will be released as the second international single, making it the fourth overall single from the album. “Like a Surgeon” will be the third single.

The music video was directed by Melina Matsoukas, and was filmed before Ciara went on tour with Britney Spears.

Nice video with some dancing (as you all could’ve guessed), for this club banger. Doesn’t nearly compare to the one and only “Lose Control” featuring Ciara & Fatman Scoop from Missy Elliott, but it comes close. And if you didn’t know, the instrumental is everything to this song.

Fantasy Ride / Ciara

Fantasy Ride is the upcoming third studio album by American R&B/pop singer Ciara. LaFace Records, in collaboration with Zomba Label Group and Sony Music Entertainment will release the album in early 2009. Originally, Fantasy Ride was set to be released December 9, 2008.

A promo single, “Go Girl“, which features T-Pain, was released September 30, 2008. The lead single, “Never, Ever“, which features Young Jeezy, is scheduled to be released on January 5, 2009.

Ciara confirmed that the album includes appearances by Young Jeezy, T-Pain, Ludacris, and Missy Elliott.

Meaning, they’re acting like Go Girl never existed. Basically, if you haven’t seen the album art yet or know anything about how it’s being released – it’s going to be just like Beyonce’s I Am… Sasha Fierce, (but instead of two discs, it will include three.) Except, Ciara is known as “Super C” who is a character Ciara becomes when she performs onstage and in her music videos. (Anyway.. sound familiar?)

Fantasy Ride is scheduled to be released as an eclectic three-disc album, with five or six stylistically similar songs per disc. The first disc, entitled Groove City, features slow jams similar to Ciara’s Evolution single, “Promise”. The second disc, Crunktown, includes crunk-influenced tracks reminiscent of “Goodies”. The third disc, Kingdom of Dance, has up-tempo house and freestyle cuts.

Fantasy Ride introduces Ciara’s alter-ego Super C. Ciara said Super C is a character she becomes when she performs onstage and in her music videos. Super C is used in Fantasy Ride promotional photos. She is a futuristic superhero-esque Ciara, based on the robotic character Ciara portrayed in the “Go Girl” music video.

DC Comics artist Bernard Chang helped Ciara create the alter-ego for the album artwork. Ciara said she worked on the artwork about nine months to a year.

Shock Value: Volume 2 / Timbaland

Have you wondered what happened to Timbaland? Well, he’s just been brewing up Shock Value: Volume 2. I’m sure you remember how hot his first Shock Value was that included the hits “Way I Are” featuring Keri Hilson and D.O.E.

Wow, it’s like a Guitar Hero songlist for the ears. Timbaland + all of these artists = awesomeness. Who can’t agree, you know this is going to be excellent and will once again change what we think about music. Shock Value: Volume 2 drops February 14th 2009.

Timbaland described the album to be like a “Now That’s What I Call Music!” compilation and that “It’ll be hot for the world,” he boasted of the 2007 album. “I really do focus groups. I get reports, readouts. I’m not gonna talk about it. If you ask for documentation, I got it. I’m a businessman and at the same time a CEO. But I looked at the charts: Africa? Double platinum. Ireland? Double platinum. New Zealand? Triple platinum. London? Platinum. London is the hardest place to go platinum. France? Platinum. They don’t like nobody unless you French, but they like me.”

“Talk That”, a track featuring T-Pain leaked in fall 2008; Timbaland said that it may not appear on the album “’cause it’s so much of a smash”, but claimed to have recorded several records with T-Pain which he describes as “retarded,” and also commented that “If you would’ve come to my wedding, you would have heard the records. At my reception, everybody was going crazy. It’s phenomenal! Everybody is like, ‘You rapping like that?’ I’ve been doing that. It’s nothing for me.”

Love vs. Money / The-Dream

Love vs. Money is the sophomore album from singer-songwriter and producer, The-Dream. The album is scheduled to be released on February 17th 2009 via Def Jam Recordings and The-Dream’s Radio Killa imprint.

In regards to his new album, The-Dream stated:

  • This album’s gonna be the same thing – a little more beefed up, I’m just gonna give you more. Every album I’m just gonna try to give you more of me, and what I think about certain things… This album is just gonna be the first album on crack, basically.
  • “My Love” (featuring Mariah Carey)
  • “You Ain’t Shit”
  • Let Me See the Booty(co-produced by Lil Jon)
  • “Fancy”
  • “Right Side of My Brain”
  • “Make Love to Me”
  • “Kelly’s 12 Play”
  • Rockin’ That Thang

A few others to be on the lookout for will be Chris Brown‘s Grafitti, Rihanna‘s upcoming fourth studio album: On 24th December 2008 in the United Kingdom during an interview with RWD Rihanna stated that she would be back in the recording studio in early 2009 working on her fourth studio album. She also confirmed that the album would definitely be released in 2009. Not much is known about either besides they’ll be out sometime in 2009.

Yet another Plies album will be released, titled “REALer Than Usual” sometime in April along with a new Usher Untitled. Another Theater of the Mind 2 from Ludacris and they’re still trying to push out Her Name Is Nicole… from Nicole Scherzinger (of Pussycat Dolls), how much longer do you think until THAT’S released?

Albums I’ll be on the lookout for, if they’re decent quality albums – this is definitely what’s going to be posted. As always this isn’t limited to all I’ll post, but also what you should be on the lookout for also.

Album Review: “Circus” – Britney Spears

Britney Spears’ “Circus” available on iTunes NOW!!

After the success of Britney’s last album and after the fail of what was her 2007 VMAs Britney wants us to know that she’s really back! With the release of Britney’s new album it marks her Danja-named “Queen of Pop” with songs that ooze the best of Britney. From the producers that brought “…Baby One More Time”, “Toxic” and “Gimme More” and Britney’s first #1 since …Baby One More time: “Womanizer”.

Womanizer” is the track we all already know – there’s not much to say besides “Britney’s back bitches!” The track became a worldwide hit in many parts of the world. “Womanizer” was produced and co-written by Nikesha Briscoe and Rapheal Akinyemi of Atlanta-based production team, The Outsyders. “Womanizer” is Spears’s first number one single on the Hot 100 since her debut “…Baby One More Time”, almost 10 years prior. “You say I’m crazy? I got you crazy.”

Circus” is the second single from the album, my personal favorite from the album. The song was written and produced by Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco. “I’m like the ringleader, I call the shots, I’m like a firecracker, I make it hot.” “Shattered Glass” is an uptempo dance pop song, “Was it really worth? Was she everything, that you were looking for – feel like me? Cause all we had was like shattered glass” Yet another Dr. Luke produced track “Lace and Leather” is another fan favorite which is an upbeat electronic sounding pop track.

If U Seek Amy” is one of the best tracks on the album, agreed heavily by fans that this is probably the best song also. The Max Martin produced track, whom has produced Britney’s previous hits “…Baby One More Time” “(You Drive Me) Crazy” “Oops!… I Did It Again” “Lucky” “Stronger” “Overprotected” & “I’M Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman”

Britney Spears – If U Seek Amy

Fun fact: Ever wonder why it’s specifically “U” and not “You”? Listen to how Britney says “If U Seek Amy”: “All the boys and all the girls just begging to..”If = F, you= U, see= C, k A=K, my= ME” [F-U-C-K Me]. Besides the track heading to the radios and blowing up this could be one of her most memorable songs for the production value and insanely catchy hook.

The Danja produced track “Kill The Lights” calls Britney now “Queen of Pop”, the track can easily be compared with Piece of Me in the respect that it’s to the paparazzi. The track’s beat pushes on while she takes on the paparazzi “I think I’m ready for my closeup, Make sure you pick my good side”. Another Danja produced track “Blur” is a slower Piano ballad with some fantasy-like chords.

Bloodshy & Avant (Previously produced Britney hits like “Piece of Me” “Radar” “Do Somethin” “My Prerogative” “Me Against the Music” and “Toxic”) did four productions for Circus: “Unusual You“, “Phonography” (Australian bonus track), “Trouble” (iTunes bonus track) and re-release of the co-produced with The Clutch track Radar. Unusual You isn’t the typical Bloodshy & Avant track it’s a softer fanatasy-like dance track comparable to her In The Zone track “Breathe On Me”. “Phonography” is an upbeat dance track which is a personal favorite, oozes sex and has my favorite production on the entire album. “And I like my Bluetooth.. buttons coming loose..”

The album is wrapped up with the ballads “My Baby” which Britney has stated is a very personal song and “Out From Under” & “Quicksand“. “Quicksand” is an uptempo piano Ballad that was written by Lady Gaga. “You and me are sinking like Quicksand.” “Rock Boy” (German Bonus track) “Amnesia” & “Rock Me In” are both Pop/Rock songs which features a guitar to give it a bit more of an edge, but keeping Britney’s pop side.

Overall, BRITNEY IS BACK. She has a great selection of tracks many of which require a few spins until you’re enjoying it – but some are ear candy the first play. Some tracks that are very memorable are “If U Seek Amy”, “Phonography”, “Circus” & the obvious “Womanizer”.

Circus is in stores December 2nd (HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRITNEY!!) make sure you pick up your copy.
