Missy Elliot Invites Fans To Name New Album

Missy ElliotFive-time Grammy Award winner Missy Elliott is giving fans the opportunity to name her new album, due out on Goldmind/Atlantic late Spring 2008. Fans can enter immediately via Missy’s website, The contest closes on February 20th and the winner will be announced on March 2nd. The winner will receive credit on Missy’s new album and a $500 “Respect Me” adidas gift card.

Fans have already gotten a sneak peek of what Elliott has been up to with “Ching-A-Ling,” a new song which, along with Elliott’s “Shake Your Pom Pom,” will appear on both the “STEP UP 2 THE STREETS – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK” (Out Now!!) as well as on Elliott’s forthcoming 7th studio album (due out Spring 2008).

“STEP UP 2 THE STREETS – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK” is the musical companion to the upcoming Touchstone Pictures dance film of the same name. The film is slated for a 5 day – Valentine’s to President’s Day – opening weekend beginning in theatres nationwide on Thursday, February 14th.

The radio response to “Ching-A-Ling” has been instantaneous and reactionary, and the song, which just received a 4-star review in Rolling Stone magazine, has garnered over 15 million in audience after just a few short weeks of airplay.

In addition, Elliot has teamed up with longtime visual collaborator Dave Meyers and the Walt Disney Company’s Touchstone Pictures to make history by creating the first ever 3D music video for “Ching-A-Ling.”

Ching-a-Ling” is a song by Missy Elliott, and is the lead single for the Step Up 2 the Streets film soundtrack. It is said to appear on Elliott’s forthcoming album. The song premiered on both MySpace and Elliott’s official website on January 10, 2008. Within a week, it had debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The song is now available for download on iTunes.

A remix of Ching-a-Ling was released on February 1 featuring Ciara and Jay-Z.

The video premiered on MTV‘s TRL and BET‘s 106 & Park on February 4, 2008. It was directed by Dave Meyers and has a combination of “Ching-a-Ling” and “Shake Your Pom Pom.” It is the first ever 3D video.

Step Up 2 the Streets is the 2008 sequel to the 2006 hit Step Up. The movie features the directorial debut of award-winning up-and-comer Jon M. Chu, Step Up 2 the Streets reunites much of the production team behind the original film including Step Up’s cutting-edge hip-hop choreographer Jamal Sims, who is joined this time by choreographers Hi-Hat (Bring It On) and Dave Scott (Stomp the Yard). Patrick Wachsberger and Erik Feig of Summit Entertainment produce with Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot of Offspring Entertainment and Anne Fletcher, the director of the original film.
