The Banger of a Track was released on May 6, 2016. It was written by Grande, Max Martin, Savan Kotecha, Alexander Kronlund, and Ilya Salmanzadeh with Martin and Salmanzadeh serving as producers. The single is a dance-pop song with elements of EDM. Lyrically the song is about craving physical attention from a lover.
The song debuted at number 83 on the Billboard Hot 100, and has reached number 47 so far. The song has also reached number 40 on the UK Singles Chart. Ariana Grande performed the song at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards, along with “Dangerous Woman“. She also performed it on the season 10 finale of The Voice.
