Bebe debuted a sneak preview to the single at a Live pre-grammy performance.

Bebe Rexha announced the release of “Heart Wants What It Wants” on Instagram on the 9th of February, 2023: she posted the song’s cover-art picture inspired by the seventies with the caption “Eeeeeek!!!! Heart Wants What It Wants is coming February 17th!!!” A video snippet of the single’s music video (directed by Michael Haussman) was published a week later.

While being interviewed by PEOPLE on the red carpet of the 2023 Grammys, Bebe Rexha said of her new music, “It’s a blast into the ’70s. That’s why we’re doing a little bit of Farrah Fawcett.”
