“Smoke I’ve Known” Lyrics ^{^[4]}
Song by James Johnston:

People try to tell me who I am
‘Cause I ain’t no cowboy
They say these boots they ain’t seen dirt
But, let me tell you right now boy
You’ll find me on this land ’till I’m grey and old
And, you can try and say I’m just blowing smoke

But, the only smoke I’ve known
Is a 2-stroke, down a one lane ripping it
Momma burning that bacon in the kitchen, ain’t
Nothing better than the way I was raised back home
That’s the only smoke I’ve known
Is a 12-gauge shooting clays for the hell of it
Rust bucket Chevy truck burning up the tread
Kicking up dust, we were flying down them gravel roads
That’s the only smoke I’ve known
That’s the only smoke I’ve known

I wear my ball cap a little bit backwards
If a Stetson is what you’re after
Well, you might be surprised when I’m the guy to fix your tractor
I’ve seen it all more than you know
Bonfires and firefly glows
I love the smell of that tobacco hanging in that barn

That’s the only smoke I’ve known
Is a 2-stroke, down a one lane ripping it
Momma burning that bacon in the kitchen, ain’t
Nothing better than the way I was raised back home
That’s the only smoke I’ve known
Is a 12-gauge shooting clays for the hell of it
Rust bucket Chevy truck burning up the tread
Kicking up dust, we were flying down them gravel roads
That’s the only smoke I’ve known
That’s the only smoke I’ve known

Granddaddy burnt through a pack a day
Yeah, and, just like him I know I’ll never change

The only smoke I’ve known
Is old boys rolling joints by the riverbank
Then fireworks turning night into day
Ain’t nothing better than the way I was raised back home
The only smoke I’ve known
Is a 12-gauge shooting clays for the hell of it
Rust bucket Chevy truck burning up the tread
Kicking up dust, we were flying down them gravel roads
That’s the only smoke I’ve known
That’s the only smoke I’ve known
That’s the only smoke I’ve known
