“Lay It on Me” is a music video and song by American recording artist Kelly Rowland and American rapper Big Sean, taken from Rowland’s third studio album, Here I Am.

The music video premiered on Kelly Rowland’s official YouTube VEVO channel for the song and began production with Sarah Chatfield as director and Frank Gatson, Jr. as choreographer.

It is the third time that Rowland has worked with Chatfield following the videos for “Forever and a Day” (2010) and “Motivation” (2011).

The clip features appearances from Big Sean and a baby elephant called Suzy. It was shot alongside the video for Rowland’s forth single from Here I Am, “Down for Whatever.”

It was sent to US rhythmic radio on August 16, 2011 by Universal Motown as the album’s second single.

“Lay It on Me” is a up-tempo R&B song that features a piano-driven production, with elements of 808s and high NRG music. It was written by Ester Dean, Big Sean, and co-written and produced by Hit-Boy. The lyrics revolve around Rowland telling her man exactly what she wants sexually. Initial reviews of the song have been positive, praising the lyrics, progressive production and sex appeal.
