“Dancing on My Own” is a song by Swedish pop singer Robyn. The music video for the song was directed by Max Vitali. The song was produced by Patrick Berger, and written by Robyn and Berger.
It is is an electropop ballad, following the footsteps of previous Robyn singles “Be Mine!” and “With Every Heartbeat”. The main idea behind the song is Robyn watching the man she loves dancing with another woman, while he is oblivious of her presense on the dancefloor. Dancing on My Own is set to be released on June 1, 2010 in the United States, and on June 14, 2010 in the rest of the world, as the first official single from her album Body Talk Pt. 1.
According to Robyn, is inspired by “sad, gay disco anthems such as Ultravox’s Dancing With Tears in My Eyes, Sylvester and Donna Summer”.
