Video Phone is a song by American R&B singer Beyoncé from her third studio album, I Am… Sasha Fierce.
The official remix and music video of the song featuring Lady Gaga will be included on the 2009 deluxe edition of the album.
The track was released as the album’s eighth single. Before its release as a single, the song charted in late 2008 due to strong digital sales.
The video was directed by Hype Williams.
The video begins with Beyoncé walking down an alley accompanied by several men in suits. As the main section of the song begins, cameras zoom in on Beyoncé as she dances in a black & white latex leotard while holding sunglasses with hand signals on them. When the first verse begins, Beyoncé is shown teasing two men who have cameras as heads. She is also seen teasing men with futuristic toy guns while wearing a clear latex bra. During Lady Gaga’s verse, they are both seen singing to the camera while shooting more toy guns in open fire. Afterwards we see Beyoncé shoot a bow-and-arrow at a cameraman who is being rotated on a dart board. She and Gaga are then seen sitting on chairs in white leotards in front of a white backdrop. They then both perform a seductive dance in collaboration. Afterwards, Beyoncé is seen channeling Bettie Page through her wardrobe and hairstyle. Throughout the video, the two songstresses are seen shooting their guns and crossbows at men. The video ends with Beyoncé shooting a gun while upon a stationary motorcycle and surrounded by images from the start of the video.

This music video embarrasses me. I am ashamed to be a member of this society. I almost feel this video was an experiment. Take two big names, have them sing a ridiculous song in a video that makes absolutely no sense, and voilà, hit. Have we sunk so low that "hit" music has nothing to do with the music and is all about the name that "performs" it? Have we completely lost touch? What does plastic guns (Even the ones meant to resemble real weapons were completely unrealistic) that shoot cheap CG flashes of light (that any 10 yr old YouTube veteran can reproduce) have to do with video phones? Why on earth make a song that (assumed) praises an old and unremarkable technology that is mostly hype in itself? There is no message, no artistry, no congruency. The only reason this song has any success are the two names on it. And that is what I am so embarrassed by. The state of this society to judge MUSIC by things that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the sound itself. What kind of message are we sending as a consumer? Hell, apparently they don't even need to sing. Just take a famous person, put them in front of a green screen, add in a bunch of flashing lights and let them hum nonsense for 4 minutes. yay music…
