“Criminal” is the fourth official music video and single from American pop singer Britney Spears‘ seventh studio album, Femme Fatale.

The music video premiered in mid October 2011 on Britney Spears’ official YouTube VEVO channel.

“Criminal” was written by Max Martin, Shellback and Tiffany Amber, while being produced by Martin and Shellback.

The accompanying music video for the song was filmed in Stoke Newington, London. It features Spears as a woman in upper society and follows her relationship with a criminal, played by her real-life boyfriend Jason Trawick.

Prior to its release, London officials criticized Spears for shooting scenes with a replica gun, after the area had been badly affected during the 2011 England riots.

The video received positive reviews from critics, who noted the influence of films by Alfred Hitchcock and Guy Ritchie and deemed it as the best video from Femme Fatale.
