The Ballads is a compilation album by American pop/R&B singer Mariah Carey. The album features some of Carey’s top selling ballads over the course of her career. It was released internationally in late 2008, and will be released in North America in January of 2009.

In early 2009, Mariah recorded an alternate version of “Hero” to promote her compilation album The Ballads.
