“Anaconda” is a promotional music video, and Banger of a Track from Trinidadian-American recording artist Nicki Minaj‘s upcoming third studio album, The Pinkprint.

The music video for the track was shot in Los Angeles, California by Colin Tilley. The video features a cameo appearance by fellow rapper and labelmate Drake. It premiered in mid August, via Nicki Minaj’s official YouTube VEVO channel.

Following the video’s release, it broke the 24-hour streaming record on Vevo by accumulating 19.6 million views in its first day of release. To further promote the song Minaj performed it live at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards and also performed it at Fashion Rocks and the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

The Banger of a Track was Produced By: Da Internz & Polow Da Don and samples “Baby Got Back”  by Sir Mix-a-Lo, in particular the lines: “My anaconda don’t want none unless you got buns, hun”

In 2012, the song was originally recorded by five-time Grammy Award-winning musician Missy Elliott, however due to undisclosed reasons Elliott shelved the track and was then re-recorded by Minaj. The cover art for the single went viral on the web after being revealed. On various digital music stores, the cover is censored with a Parental Advisory label over her backside. The song samples “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-a-Lot.

Lyrics for Nicki Minaj – Anaconda

Intro
My anaconda don’t, my anaconda don’t

Verse 1
Boy toy named Troy used to live in Detroit
Big dope dealer money, he was gettin’ some coins
Was in shootouts with the law, but he live in a palace
Bought me Alexander McQueen, he was keeping me stylish
Now that’s real, real, real
Gun in my purse, bitch, I came dressed to kill
Who wanna go first? I had them pushing daffodils
I’m high as hell, I only took a half a pill
I’m on some dumb s***, by the way, what he say?
He can tell I ain’t missing no meals
Come through and f*** him in my automobile
Let him eat it with his grills and he tellin’ me to chill
And he telling me it’s real, that he love my sex appeal
Say he don’t like ‘em boney, he want something he can grab
So I pulled up in the Jag, and I hit him with the jab like
Dun-d-d-dun-dun-d-d-dun-dun

My anaconda don’t, my anaconda don’t
My anaconda don’t want none unless you got buns, hun
